5 Things That Make An Entrepreneur Successful

Having a great idea may not necessarily make you a great entrepreneur. A successful entrepreneur would be a person who must have at least these 5 things going for him/her. Sebastian Greenwood believes that these are the key ingredients for success:

  1. The right attitude:

Starting up a business is no laughing matter and is not for the faint-hearted. It takes resilience, tenacity, being able to work well under pressure, and having faith in yourself and your business; trust your gut. As Carol Burnett rightly said, “Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me”. You are responsible for your actions; no one else will help you be a true visionary. Patience is a virtue, which is a must-have for all entrepreneurs. Wait it out and do not give up, as results take some time to show

  1. Identify your core requirements

Start by identifying your absolute essentials and make sure you have them before venturing into something. Start with getting the right manpower in place. First, do some soul searching and find your strengths and weaknesses. You may be great at creating ideas, but not so good at financials or you may be great at both, but having too many things on your plate may hamper your performance in all departments. Hiring can be an on-going process and can be done as and when you think you need people.  If you think certain infrastructures are a must for the start-up, acquire them. Of course you have to think of financials, so figure out a way that ensures the quality is intact and your pocket does not get pinched significantly

  1. Rely on your team

Sometimes you may need people to bounce off ideas. Ego and arrogance has no place in the scheme of things. Do not hesitate to admit someone else’s idea in your team is better than yours; this will help you to take your start-up to new heights. Make sure you have a variety of team members and they are not all “yes” men or women. Create an environment where ideas and thoughts can be shared freely, so that potential areas of problems can be identified before they actually occur. Encourage the team to feel that this start-up is their baby too

  1. Time management and efficiency

Managing time well is crucial to proper execution and delivery.  No one performs well if they are burned out and late delivery creates a bad reputation, which can bring your doomsday to you faster than you realize.

  1. Do not be afraid to be a visionary

Sebastian Greenwood believes that a successful entrepreneur is that person who is willing to take risks, step out of the comfort zone and try, which others do not. Be flexible with your ideas, be willing to adapt them with changing times, but do not lose focus, nor your honesty and integrity along the way.  Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it”. Stick to your dream despite the obstacles, but do not be rigid or unwilling to change
